The area around Roodehek Street has a rich history that goes back centuries, with food production and making being a consistent theme from the 18th century through to today.
In the 19th century the area was dominated by market gardens that produced crops for a growing town, transforming in the 20th century into a hub of light manufacturing in and amongst the row houses that line the neighbouring streets.
Farmers, hat-makers and printers have given way to bakers, winemakers, designers and a growing cohort of creative enterprises that call Roodehek home.
